Ten years ago, Calaméo opened its digital doors for the very first time.
That’s right—it’s Calaméo’s 10th birthday!
“I’m very proud of all that the team has accomplished over these ten years and how the platform has evolved to provide a high-end digital publishing experience for everyone,” said Mathieu Quisefit, CTO of Calaméo.
The look was a little different in 2008 but from the start our users could add internal and external links to their publications, embed them and share on social media.
Since then we’ve improved our digital publishing solution with features like YouTube video, readership statistics and subscriber management.
In 2017 we unveiled our new HTML5 reader and advanced conversion technology, confirming Calaméo as a leader in digital publishing.
Today we are honored to be home to a global community of over 6 million users and more than 12 million publications.
“The team and I are delighted to have achieved major disruptive innovation in digital publishing technology over the past decade, changing our users’ understanding of written media,” said Jean-Olivier de Bérard, CEO of Calaméo.
“Thank you to all of our clients and users who have trusted us since the very beginning! We continue to work for them and in the coming months our solution will evolve with even more features.”
Thanks to everyone who has made Calaméo such a wonderful place to publish, discover and share for 10 years. We look forward to the next ten and continuing the adventure with you here on Calaméo!
Ever since we joined the social media universe back in 2008, we’ve loved seeing all of the publications our users have shared. You’ve tweeted us @calameo, chatted with us on Facebook, showed us your best on Instagram and curated with us on Pinterest.
Today we are announcing a whole new way for our users to share their publications with us—and with the millions of readers who visit our platform.
That’s right, from now on every publisher on Calaméo can nominate his or her publication to be featured on our homepage!
It’s easy to let us know you’d like your publication to be considered. Just use the hashtag #CalameoCoversClub when you share your publication on Twitter or Instagram!
Our Content Management Team reviews all of the publications posted with the #CalameoCoversClub hashtag and chooses their favorites to appear on the Calaméo homepage. While all selections are up to the Content Management Team, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
Belonging to the #CalameoCoversClub means having a striking cover! Beautiful photography, bold colors and eye-catching graphics on the cover can help your publication stand out.
We love seeing our users’ creativity with digital publishing. If your publication makes great use of Calaméo’s features, it may be a good candidate for the #CalameoCoversClub.
Readers from all over the world visit Calaméo and our platform is available in seven languages. Try using the #CalameoCoversClub hashtag with your publications that would benefit from the widest possible audience!
We can’t wait to see which of your publications will be part of the #CalameoCoversClub this year!
Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Instagram so you can keep up with all of the #CalameoCoversClub entries and see which publications are chosen for the homepage!
Choosing a white label publishing platform for your online documents can have many benefits for your business. Read on to learn more about digital publishing in white label and the solutions offered by Calaméo.
What is white label publishing?
White label, or private label, describes a product that does not have branding attached to it before use. This can include the company name, product name, logo and any other features that connect it to the maker. In most cases, users of white label products then add their own branding to make it their own.
A white label publishing platform lets users upload and share documents without outside branding and advertising. For example, Calaméo’s digital publishing platform offers a white label feature for professional users. When you publish in white label, Calaméo logos do not appear on the publication viewer. In addition, viewer menus don’t display third-party content.
The end result? No mention of Calaméo anywhere inside the viewer.
Why should I choose a publishing platform with white label?
There are many good reasons to select a white label publishing platform for your online documents.
Discretion
First, you remove any distractions from the publication viewer and keep all the focus on your documents. Rather than call attention to tools your business uses, white label provides a discreet solution.
Rebranding
Next, the best white label publishing platforms will allow you to rebrand the document viewer as your own. Why settle for a neutral reading experience when you can take your publications to the next level? Plus, adding your company’s own logo is simple with Calaméo. Thanks to our awesome Elements feature, it only takes a few clicks to upload and apply a logo to your digital publications.
Flexibility
In fact, the biggest advantage of a white label publishing platform is flexibility. Because the solution is meant to be adapted to your needs, look for tools that enable you to customize your publications. For instance, Calaméo’s custom theme feature lets you define practically every detail of the viewer, from color and design to languages and behaviors. Go ahead—make it your own!
